The application of foam materials in new energy vehicles

Organic silicone foam is a porous, low-density, compressible polymer elastomeric material made of raw silicone rubber, mixed with other auxiliary raw materials, and processed through a special process. Nowadays, silicone rubber foam is increasingly used, because it has the excellent performance of both silicone rubber and foam materials. Organic silicone foam has the high elasticity of rubber, but also has the foam material has sound absorption and sound insulation, shock absorption, and cushioning properties, mostly used in shock-absorbing pads, gaskets, sound insulation materials, insulation materials, aviation insulation materials, and some other high requirements for material performance occasions.

Silicone foam material is more and more widely used because it has the excellent performance of both silicone rubber and foam material, with the high resilience of rubber and the sound absorption and shock absorption of foam, mostly used in waterproof, shock absorption, gasket, sound insulation, heat insulation, aviation insulation and other occasions with high-performance requirements. According to the structure of the bubble hole, organic silicone foam is divided into closed cell, open cell, and hybrid type.

Closed cell foam silicone foam materials have better shock absorption and cushioning, sound insulation, heat insulation and flame retardant, and explosion-proof characteristics, which are mainly used in the automotive field for automotive car air conditioning with heat insulation foam tubing, automotive shock absorption, new energy vehicle battery with foam silicone sealing gaskets and so on.

Many of today's automotive interior materials, such as flooring, roof, steering wheel, car seats, etc. are polyurethane foam materials, on the one hand, because the technology of polyurethane foam materials is relatively mature, performance in line with the use of standards; on the other hand, because the price of polyurethane foam materials is low. However, polyurethane foam material weather resistance is poor, flammable and the burning process releases a lot of toxic gases harmful to humans. Therefore, with the promotion of silicone foam materials for agricultural production systems and the improvement of people's awareness of them, silicone foam materials are expected to replace traditional polyurethane foam materials in the future.
